Nando's FIFA Ads

If I ever have to work in marketing...I want to work with the brain behind these adverts. He's pure genius whoever he is, and it would be a serious shame not to share this with the world.

Besides. You might learn a thing or two about South Africa while you're at it. :)

So totally politically incorrect. But hilarious nonetheless. ;)

A play on Jacob Zuma's many wives. He has three.

"No no sisi. On your head!"

Examination Freedom

So exams are finally done and out of the way. Now all that's left for me to do is attempt to enjoy the holidays.

Not.

I pretty much killed my right hand on the 16th of June by writing 5 essays and then 3 page long 'short' answers. Reminds me of lit and history on the same day all over again somehow.

Holidays have been fantastic so far though. Plenty of post-exam celebration, but I should probably knuckle down and save if I want to go anywhere at all. :)
In the meantime, some pics of what has already passed through...

火锅 or Steamboat with Chia Hsin at the Jade Palace. In the most awesome weather to be having it in. :)

蛋挞 or egg tart with the Chinese group at Dragon Palace. The BEST egg tarts I've ever had in Perth.

South Africa vs Mexico

It was worth an attempt. South Africa didn't win. But certainly, they defied most of our expectations. Drawing with Mexico was better than a lot of people expected, and just proves that Africa can do it if they believe. That last attempt at a goal was a heart breaking affair. And Mexico's goal could have been avoided in all honesty, if Mokoena had remembered his place was to defend the goal, not run after the ball to spot it!

On to the next one. South Africa had better beat the pulp out of France!

Shakira - Waka Waka | Official Video | World Cup South Africa 2010

Okay. I am officially obsessed.
But I'm so proud of South Africa. Finally the world gets to see the beauty of the country I can proudly say I belong to. (whether it wants me or not. =p)

It reminds me of everything African. From my favourite South African band (Freshly Ground) right down to the dancing. I was a bit confused over the initial choice of Shakira, but I can see now why they chose her. She's literally oozing energy.

Now I'm only confused over the ending bit of the video, regarding why I can spot a Chinese lion in the background!

Who're you supporting? I'm going Bafana Bafana all the way! (unless they lose, then I'm rooting Brazil. :D)

Halfway Gone

Two down, two more to go!

ITF was mind blowing. To an extent. I guess the lecturer really meant it when he said he was going to base it on the lecture slides, I'm so glad I read through the theory the night before! The 20 mark question was...quite a bombshell. But I managed to extract a number at least. Whether it's correct or not is something else. Fingers crossed I managed to pass this whole unit! A pass is okay. A credit is wow. And a distinction is basically a freakin' miracle!

Mandarin was okay. I think I was too relaxed for it, purely because I was allowed to drag a dictionary in with me. Plus I stole sentences from other questions in the exam when I didn't know how to make up my own. :)

I just hope the others will make it. MM and Comms on the same day. I have a feeling my hand may just break down in Comms when I try to finish all my essay writing. Early onset of arthritis, I can so see this coming. I blame 5 years of intense essay writing. I just had to be bad with numbers didn't I.

Making the Comeback

So I'm not exactly new to this. But due to several reasons (procrastination being one of them) I've decided to make a comeback into the blogging world. I've kind of missed this and hopefully it gives me back some of the sanity I've been gradually losing over the past few months.
Going back to my old blog (www.malaysian-at-heart.blogspot.com) my last post was posted at exactly the 1st of September 2009. Yes. I've been seriously MIA.

Some things about me:
I'm Michelle, currently, physically writing from Perth, Western Australia. My mind and soul tends to live in Johannesburg, South Africa. My passport (and sometimes my heart) tells me I'm from Malaysia, but my childhood was spent in Jakarta, Indonesia. I have also made a short (comparatively) stopover in Manila, the Philippines.
I don't regret any of this moving, in fact I plan to continue! I'm hoping to make Japan, Canada, the USA and the UK my next stops, but whether I get there only time will tell.

I'm in my 2nd year uni at UWA and suffering through exams at the moment.
In that order:
FINA2221 - Introduction to Finance
CHIN1103 - Chinese Intermediate
MKTG2203 - Marketing Management
COMM2201 - Communication and Mass Media

My first exam is on Tuesday. Yeah...I so shouldn't be here.
